Acting Police Chief Called To Active Duty
As a result of the tragic attack on the World Trade Center, Michael
Kirk, acting director of the Department of Public Safety and Chief of
Police, has been called to active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard. During
his absence, Charles Tighe, a member of the NJIT public safety staff for
12 years, has been appointed acting director and chief of the
department.
INFO: Joseph F. Tartaglia, ext. 3124.
Counseling Available
The attacks of Sept. 11 have touched many members of the NJIT community
in different ways. Feelings of shock, disbelief, grief, sadness, fear
and anger are all natural reactions. Individuals are coping in a variety
of ways --- prayer; displays of solidarity; and contributing to the
rescue and rebuilding process via donations of time, blood, money, and
material goods.
The university is offering groups for sharing and support to any
members of the NJIT community who wish to talk about their feelings,
concerns or losses with others in a private setting. Members of the
Counseling Center staff will be available to facilitate the discussion
Monday, Oct. 1, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., and Monday, Oct 8, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.,
in the Hazell Center John Howard Room; and Wednesday, Oct. 24, 4 p.m.,
in Guttenberg Information Technology Center 1400.
