Computer Virus Brings Internet To A HaltA significant slowdown in Internet response time began Tuesday, Sept. 18, due to a new powerful computer virus, dubbed “NIMDA.” The serious attack affected the entire global Internet community, including NJIT. During the initial attack time, network connectivity was slow for some services, and others were disconnected. The division of computing services isolated the virus and filtered it
to keep its effect on NJIT to a minimum. Filters were put in place,
making service faster than it was for our community before the virus
first started. For information and details about the anti-virus software, click http://distrib.njit.edu/virus1.htm, where step-by-step instructions about installing and updating anti-virus software is available.
