Hurlburt Professor of
Management Information Systems
Dr. Murray Turoff has been appointed Hurlburt Professor of Management Information Systems. Dr. Turoff, distinguished professor and chair of the Department of Information Systems, received the B.A. degree in Mathematics and Physics for the University of California at Berkeley and the Ph.D. in Physics from Brandeis University. He has been a member of the NJIT faculty since 1973. In addition to his responsibilities as chair of the Department of Information Systems, Murray holds a joint appointment with the NJIT School of Management and is a member of the faculty of the Rutgers Graduate School of Management and the program director for the CIS concentration in the Rutgers Ph.D. in Management program.
His longstanding involvement with the School of Management, as well as his extensive experience in the field of information systems, makes him the ideal holder of the Hurlburt Professorship. Dr. Turoff will work to build a stronger collaboration between the College of Computing Sciences and the School of Management, enhancing the synergy that already exists. He will also assist in the recruitment and staffing of faculty dedicated to the MIS program.
An active researcher, Dr. Turoff has authored or co-authored numerous books and book chapters and over 100 refereed journal articles and refereed conference proceedings papers. He is also a member of the American Society for Information Science, the Association for Information Systems, the Association for Computing Machinery, and the Institute of Management Sciences.
