Turnitin.com

NJIT has contracted with Turnitin.com for this academic year to provide faculty a method to check student papers online for possible plagiarism. Plagiarism not only undermines the educational experience of those students who plagiarize, it also devalues the efforts of their hard-working classmates. This plagiarism prevention system makes it easy to identify students who do plagiarize, but even more importantly, can act as a powerful deterrent to stop plagiarism before it starts.

The Teaching, Learning and Technology group who have also been offering a number of "hands on" training sessions are administering NJIT's Turnitin.com service. In these sessions, faculty walks through the process of setting up their own class accounts and the methods for submitting papers and analyzing results. Jim Robertson, Assistant University Librarian, and Ken Ronkowitz, Manager of the Instructional Resource Center are the co-administrators of NJIT's Turnitin.com account. Check the TLT calendar at http://www.njit.edu/tlt/calendar.htm for these and other technology training opportunities.
