Community News BriefsTeleconference Teaching, Learning and Technology @ NJIT has licensed "Improving Multimedia and Online Courses with Instructional Design" - the final program of the 2001-2002 series "Instructional Technology Survival Skills: A ‘How-to’ Series for Faculty" from the PBS Adult Learning Service. This program is scheduled for room 1402 GITC on Thursday, February 28, 2002 from 2:30 to 4 pm ET (refreshments will be served). We want to bring your attention to a companion web site for the program: http://telelearning.dcccd.edu/ InstructionalDesign/default.htm. The Web site supplements the live event with more material and interactivity. The site will include a detailed description; the participant print packet; supplemental articles and readings; and an opportunity to e- mail questions to the panelists before the event. The pages will be updated regularly as each program's air date approaches. And you can enjoy the added benefit of access to the materials throughout the year. Construction of the new Campus Center began in June 2001 and is expected to be completed by September 2004. For more details and updates, visit the New Campus Center website. 3D image provided by Gwathmey-Siegel Architects Campus Construction Update In order to accommodate construction for the multi-purpose building, there will be no access to Cullimore Hall from the south side (Lot #2). The south doors will be closed for both entering and exiting Cullimore. Access to Cullimore Hall will be accommodated through the west and north doors and through the Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. entrance to Eberhardt Hall. Emergency exiting from Cullimore Hall will be accommodated through the north and west doors only. Both the city of Newark and State of New Jersey Fire Inspectors have reviewed and approved this plan. Beware of Possible E-mail Fraud University Employees have been receiving "Scam" E-mail messages. Please be aware of how to identify E-mail "Scams" and what to do if one is received. While we are taking steps to reduce the number of such messages, it is not possible stop all "Scam" messages. These messages often provide misinformation, offer you something for nothing or at a low risk, or ask for financial assistance. Some are immediately identified by their subject, the following are subjects of "Scam" messages received here at NJIT: NEXT OF KIN CLAIM We ask the university community to be on the look out for such E-mail "scams". The Federal Trade Commission has a web site noting the "Dirty Dozen" E-mail scams. Please visit: NJIT DAILY PARKINGEffective January 29, 2002, NJIT faculty, staff and students who have a need to park on an occasional basis may purchase daily vouchers from the Bursar's office. Persons who need to park on a regular basis should purchase a parking permit at the office of Public Safety for the entire semester. Daily parking vouchers must be purchased in advance from the Bursar's window at the student mall. The cost of the voucher will be $5.00 per day, and a valid NJIT ID is required. An area of NJIT lot # 16 (located on Colden Street - across from Laurel Hall) has been designated as the daily parking lot. Daily parking vouchers must be presented to the public safety officer posted at the entrance to lot #16. At that time, the voucher will be validated and a stub will be returned to the holder for display on the vehicle's dashboard. The voucher is valid for one day's use.
