Architect School at NJIT Offers Again Popular Two-Day Summer Career Program
If your son or daughter enters his or her junior or senior year in high school in fall of 2002, and he or she wants to learn more about a career in architecture, why not look into the two-day career exploration program offered by the New Jersey School of Architecture (NJSOA) at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). The architecture school offers this very popular program to give students a hands-on introduction to the world of architecture. Enrollment is on a first come/first serve basis and closes at 30 youngsters per session. The program begins with a breakfast that parents or guardians may attend. Following breakfast, students participate in classes taught by architecture professors in design, computer graphics and drawing. The rest of the first day includes a bag lunch, review of student work, visit to an architect's office, hands-on design exercises, a picnic dinner and a Newark Bears baseball game. On the second day, students hear a lecture from an architecture professor, participate in solving a design problem and hear closing remarks from Urs Gauchat, dean of NJSOA. Two sessions are offered: June 27-28 and July 8-9. The $120 fee per session includes tuition, meals and materials. Students stay overnight in secure and chaperoned residence halls on the NJIT campus. Applications are due May 30. For more information about the program, contact Robin Pennington, 973-596-3080 at NJSOA. NJSOA is one of the largest schools of architecture in the United States and the only public institution of higher education in New Jersey to offer the professional bachelor of architecture and master of architecture degree programs. The school is a national leader in the application of computer-aided design. back to top| Home` |
