New Jersey Institute of Technology fraternities and sororities are an integral part of campus life and the Newark, NJ community. Membership into one of NJIT 's 15 Fraternities and 7 Sororities can open the door to an exciting world of campus and community involvement.

Historically fraternities and sororities were founded upon 4 principles or pillars and continue to be the foundation for current national and local organizations.

Pillars of Greek Life

  • Scholarship
Membership in Fraternity and Sorority Life provides students with a mentoring network to help maximize their educational achievements. NJIT’s Greek organizations have a minimum GPA requirement for membership and offers scholarship opportunities and national Greek honor societies.

  • Leadership
Membership in a fraternity or sorority offers students opportunities to develop their leadership skills.   Conferences, leadership retreats, leadership development programs, and officer trainings are ways students enhance their leadership ability as a member of the Greek community.

  • Service
Community service is an important part of the mission of Greek-letter organizations.   Students learn to become lifelong active citizens and contributors to society.   Each organization is associated in a national and/or local philanthropy and participates with other charitable endeavors in the city of Newark.

  • Friendship
Membership in a fraternity or sorority provides opportunities for students to strengthen relationships with their peers and foster lifelong friendships.   Social programming includes formals, sporting competitions, and Greek Week.

Fraternities and Sororities exist as proven support networks for students as they begin this new period in their lives. They can help personalize students college experience in leading committees, managing budgets, and interacting with faculty and administrators. They will be exposed to many new experiences and challenges that will enhance their overall educational development at NJIT.

Order of Omega

Order of Omega is a national honor society that recognizes the achievement of students inside and outside of the classroom that are in Greek affiliated organizations. The purpose of Order of Omega is to recognize fraternity and sorority members who have attained a high standard of leadership in Inter-Greek activities and have exemplified a commitment to academic excellence.

The Xi Pi Chapter at NJIT has inducted 87 members into the Order of Omega since its beginning, January 25th, 1995.
