Biographical Sketch:
Colonel (Ret) Michael R. Liska Jr. currently holds the position as Project Technician for the Personalized Weapons Technology Project with The New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, New Jersey. In this assignment he serves as the principal advisor to the Project Manager in matters pertaining to the project while monitoring the progress of personnel involved. He provides guidance, assistance and coordinates with personnel both outside and within the project team to ensure timeliness and deadlines are met. Prior military and civilian assignments during his more than thirty-four years of service with the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans’ Affairs, New Jersey Army National Guard and the United States Government included, Director Human Resources, Director Plans Operations Training & Military Support, Director Surface Maintenance, and Director Military Personnel. Various field assignments in both staff and command ranged from Battalion through Division level culminating as the Chief of Staff, 50th Armored Division Command. He was born in Rahway and raised in Cranford, New Jersey. He joined the New Jersey Army National Guard in November 1964 and was commissioned as a 2LT from the New Jersey Military Academy in July 1967. He retired from both the military and federal government in June 98. Military schooling was completed up through the Command and General Staff College. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Roger Williams College and an Associate in Applied Science in Business from Mercer County Community College. Current certifications include Microsoft Certified Professional plus Internet and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. Colonel (Ret) Liska resides with his spouse Linda and two sons, Michael III and Christopher, in Edison, New Jersey. He is currently a Scoutmaster for Troop #279, Boy Scouts of America, in Edison, NJ. Membership is also held in the 117th Cavalry Association, National Guard Association of New Jersey and of the United States, and The American Legion.
