Corporate Partners
Corporations considering partnering with NJIT should know that there are many ways – all of them fruitful – to collaborate with the university.

Eager Students to Intern for You:

Corporations, for instance, can establish internship programs at NJIT. Hiring students as interns is an inexpensive yet effective way to develop future employees. NJIT students, who have sharp analytical skills, will contribute fresh ideas to your company. See more about student internships.

Attend Career Fairs and Hire Higher Tech-Savvy Students:

Corporations are also invited to attend NJIT’s career fairs. Twice a year, hundreds of top corporations -- including AT&T, Bloomberg and IBM -- recruit at NJIT. These corporations interview more than 1,000 entry-level technologically-savvy students.  The companies who attend the fairs include engineering and architecture consulting firms; manufacturing firms, information-technology firms; business and financial services as well as health services and telecommunications firms. See more about NJIT's Career Fairs.

Customized Training Programs for Your Employees:

NJIT also offers customized training programs for corporate employees. NJIT professors will meet with you to discuss your firm’s training needs, and then tailor a program to teach your employees the needed skills. NJIT professors will travel to your company to teach classes, which are oftentimes augmented with distance learning courses. See more at our Division of Continuing and Professional Education.

Since 1990, NJIT has trained 57,700 employees working for 546 New Jersey companies, including:  Panasonic, Motorola, CVS, General Dynamics, Hatch Mott McDonald and CIT Financial.  NJIT also recently started a Weekend University Program, which allows corporate employees to take weekend classes at NJIT. Help for Small and Mid-Sized Business:

In addition, NJIT’s Defense Procurement Technical Assistance Center helps small businesses, many of them women and minority-owned, find lucrative government and corporate contracts. Matching grants from NJIT and the U.S. Department of Defense support the center, so its services are provided free.

NJIT’s Center for Manufacturing Systems, moreover, offers design and manufacturing expertise to small and mid-size companies. The center is staffed with professionals with years of industry experience. That experience, combined with state of the art manufacturing equipment, helps the center to transform concepts into reality.

Companies Work with NJIT Researchers to Develop Products:

Companies also develop high-tech products by partnering with NJIT. Taurus International Manufacturing, (www.taurususa.com), for example, has partnered with NJIT to create a “smart gun.” The gun is embedded with sensors that recognize its owners grip and will only fire for him or her. See more at

Corporations also work with NJIT professors, some of whom are working on breakthrough research in the areas of nanotechnology, membrane separation and biomedical engineering.  Recently, a professor developed an inexpensive solar cell that can be painted or printed on flexible plastic sheets. Someday homeowners might print sheets of the solar cells using home-based inkjet printers. They might then apply the cells onto a wall or a roof, thereby creating their own power stations. Corporations also make gifts to NJIT that support student scholarships, academic research and athletics.  See more about giving to NJIT.
