The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to apply for federal, state and institutional financial aid. You should file a FAFSA beginning October 1 but no later than NJIT’s Priority filing deadline of February 15, 2022 to ensure full consideration for federal, state, and institutional aid. NJIT's institutional code for FAFSA is 002621.

What is the IRS Data Retrieval Tool?
The IRS Data Retrieval Tool allows students and parents to access the IRS tax return information needed to complete the FAFSA and transfer the data directly into their form from the IRS website. In order to complete your FAFSA and use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, you and your parent(s) will need to have your 2020 tax return filed prior to completing a FAFSA application. If you do not use this tool, you may be asked to provide a federal tax return or tax return transcript from the IRS.
