Commencement Letter

Dear Graduate Student:

Since the May commencement is one of NJIT’s most prominent academic ceremonies that also requires precise preparations, only graduate students who will have completed all degree requirements by May 2017 will be allowed to walk on stage.

If you have already applied for graduation, you will receive notification from the Registrar in early April on your eligibility to participate in the commencement ceremony. If you have not yet applied for graduation, please visit the Office of the Registrar’s Graduation Information webpage. Fill out the application for graduation, sign, and obtain the signature of your advisor as per the instructions on the application. Submit the application to the Office of the Registrar in the Student Mall, or scan and send via email to Ms. Maryann Sawka at maryann.sawka@njit.edu.

To appeal this policy for participation at the commencement, only for exceptional circumstances, graduate students must email the reasons to gso@njit.edu by March 31, 2016. If approved, their name will not appear in the online graduation list or the printed commencement program.

Domestic Graduate Student Orientation

The Domestic Graduate Student Orientation is typically held in late August or early September prior to the start of the Fall semester. This orientation aims to help incoming domestic graduate students get acclimated to graduate education at NJIT. There will be speeches from representatives of various departments at NJIT, both academic and administrative, with opportunities for Q&A.  Please click here to view the program from the most recent orientation.  You may also view the Graduate Student guidebook here.
