Leaders of Learners in STEM – Facilitative Professional Development


When it comes to professional development in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), consider the expert resources offered at the Center for Pre-College Programs (CPCP) at NJIT. For more than 40 years, CPCP staff and NJIT faculty have been providing professional development and technical assistance in STEM for elementary and secondary schools and districts through three distinct but interrelated components of teaching and learning:

·         INSTRUCTION: How should we teach?

·         CURRICULUM: What should we teach?

·         ASSESSMENT: How should we measure student learning?

All components are designed in alignment with the national Common Core State Standards (CCSS) adopted by the New Jersey Department of Education in mathematics and language arts and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).


A Personalized Approach to Professional Development

Recognizing that professional development is not a one-size-fits-all matter, CPCP staff will work with school professionals to customize development plans and technical assistance to address the unique needs of schools/districts in targeted STEM-related areas such as standards alignment, curriculum development, restructuring course sequences, and assessment of student achievement. We will provide services at the school/district site to accommodate scheduling requirements.
