The NJIT Literacy Corps program is to engage students as tutors in local schools and after-school sites. Our goal is to help ensure that children in the Greater Newark area will be able to understand math concepts and to read well and independently by the end of the 3rd grade. Annually, over 50 – 60 NJIT federal work-study eligible students and student volunteers provide one-on-one and group tutoring for over 250 children in Newark in a community service environment.
