“I don't like the way Memorial Day is celebrated,” said NJIT graduate student Omar Gomez, who served in the Army for five years and in Afghanistan for 15 months. “It's too serious, too gray. My friend Donald T. Tabb who was killed was a funny guy—I want him to stand tall with his jokes. Nobody died so you could be boring.”
