A series of talks by noted architects and educators are brightening NJIT this fall with topics ranging from what the hippies did for architecture to the annual fall symposium sponsored by the New Jersey chapter of the American Institute of Architects. 
Stem cell researcher Treena Livingston Arinzeh will discuss current stem cell applications at NJIT, including the regeneration of bone and cartilage for bone fracture and osteoarthritis treatments, spinal cord repair, and liver regeneration at NJIT’s first Research Café.  
North Jersey Partners will offer free customized training in transportation and healthcare project management at NJIT on Thursday, Sept. 24 and Tuesday, Sept. 29 focusing on transportation and on Tuesday, Oct. 13 and Thursday, Oct.15 tailored to healthcare services. Workshops will be held from 9 a.m.-12 noon in the Guttenberg Information Technologies Center Rm. 3720. Each three-hour session will include an introduction to PMI® methodologies in project management which will be linked to an actual case study. NJIT will award .3 CEU certificates for attending this program. Training will be provided by Kaizen Technologies in partnership with NJIT. Registration is required and seating is limited. The New Jersey Center for Innovation Acceleration, a joint initiative of the NJIT School of Management and the NJIT Enterprise Development Center (EDC), will offer a series of business planning and financial modeling courses for entrepreneurs funded by North Jersey Partners. 
Michele Rittenhouse, managing director of the NJIT Theatre Arts Program, has had her play “Red Rover” accepted for development at the Seven Devils Playwright Conference in Idaho this June.  Rittenhouse will work there for two weeks with a director and dramaturg to develop the play for a staged reading. She will also mentor high-school writers from the town.
NJIT expects a surprisingly strong turn-out for both students and companies at next week’s upcoming annual Career Development Services Spring Career Fair. Registered companies include Johnson & Johnson, Verizon, Telcordia, AT&T as well as federal agencies ranging from the FBI in Newark to the US Patent and Trademark Office in Washington DC.   
“Women Taking the Lead to Save Our Planet” is the inspirational theme of a plethora of intriguing events this month at NJIT to celebrate Women’s History Month. Join NJIT for activities ranging from green, money-saving tips to a lecture from a Harvard sustainability guru about saving the planet. Except where noted, all events are free and open to the public. NJIT will host tomorrow morning the first of three statewide meetings to discuss the state of New Jersey’s infrastructures.  According to the New Jersey American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 2007 Report Card for the State’s Infrastructure and the recent national ASCE 2009 Report Card, New Jersey’s infrastructure systems are in critical need of repairs.

A former CEO and global sales and marketing executive will tell small business owners and others how to survive this tough economy without cutting costs.  Jim Lewis, CEO of Princeton Sales Partners and author of Five Deadly Sins CEOs Make in Sales, will speak at NJIT on March 4, 2009 from 10 a.m. -12:30 p.m. 
NJIT English professor and poet Burt Kimmelman, of Maplewood, has been invited to read from his work at Seton Hall University’s Poetry-in-the-Round on March 4, 2009 at 7 p.m. in the library on campus. Poet Adele Kenny will also be featured.  The public is invited to attend; there will be no charge. 
This weekend NJIT will once again open its doors for College Goal Sunday, a day-long, free public financial aid workshop to help low-income high school seniors and their parents navigate the often confusing world of financial aid opportunities. First-generation students have benefitted from this event in the past. 
Have a great idea or invention but don’t know where to turn? Then consider yourself a candidate for an upcoming day of four workshops for first-time entrepreneurs sponsored by the NJIT Enterprise Development Center and the Alumni Association of NJIT.
There’s something for everyone this spring at NJIT’s semi-annual Technology and Society Forum Series.  In two weeks, Ralph Izzo, chairman and chief executive officer of Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) opens the event with a closer look at sustainability.

High school students and their families can tour the campus, attend financial aid workshops, meet faculty, staff and students, and more at the NJIT Winter Open House on Feb. 25, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

NJIT is hosting free financial aid workshops, open to the public, on Feb. 12, 1-4 p.m., in the Campus Center. Those who plan to attend must register online. For more information, call Kathy Bialk at 973-596-3478.

NJIT's Center for Pre-college Programs will sponsor summer workshops to encourage students--many of whom are girls and minorities--from post-fourth to post-11th grades to pursue education in science, math and engineering. The workshops run from four to six weeks, and begin either in late June or early July. Applications are due April 8 and can be obtained by calling 973-596-3550 or by visiting the center’s website

Students, faculty and businesspeople interested in learning about Small Business Innovative Research and Technology Transfer funding mechanisms are invited to attend one or both NJIT Technology Commercialization & Grant Development Workshops to be held on September 20, 2004. Attendees will receive practical guidance from grant development experts and a chance to network with prospective business, technology and entrepreneurial collaborators. Participants may sign up for Workshop #1 (8:30 am-12 noon; Engineering Sciences audience) and/or Workshop #2 (1:00-4:30 p.m.; Life Sciences audience). Admission is free. Entrepreneurs and small business people interested in tapping into government and university resources to obtain lucrative grants won’t want to miss two free workshops at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). The workshops, designed to help entrepreneurs in the life sciences and engineering sciences, will be offered Sept. 20, 2004.  The morning panel, from 8:30 a.m. - noon, will focus on telling engineers what they need to get ahead.  It will take place in Room 3730 of the Guttenberg Information Technologies Center (GITC) on the NJIT campus. The building is located at the intersection of Central Avenue and Lock Street.
