JETS Teams Competition will be held on March 16, 2009. Please click here for the JETS 2008 Pictures.
This competition costs $150.00 for the first team and $100.00 for each additional team per school. The competition is open to high school students. This is a one-day competition for high ability high school students interested in mathematics, science, engineering and technology.
Each team of students competes as a group against other high school teams from schools of similar size. Schools are divided in nine different divisions. Competitions consist of objective questions and problems in content areas related to Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computers and English. The teams with the highest overall score in each division wins the competition and a chance to have their national exam judged among school from all over the United States. This is sponsored by NJIT in cooperation with the Junior Engineering Technical Society, which oversees similar events in 32 states nationwide.
Your school may register as many teams of four to eight students in grades 9 through 12 as you wish. Varsity teams are open to any grade level, while Junior Varsity teams are limited to students in grades 9 through 11. There are different divisions based on school enrollment size and admissions criteria.
The TEAMS competition is a one-day, two-part academic exam coordinated by the Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS). Students build their problem-solving skills across several academic areas, and learn to work cooperatively as group members during the competition. The experience is designed to introduce students to an “engineering team” work environment. Students compete for local, state and national awards and recognition. JETS will recognize the top 10 national teams in each division, plus each student participating in a nationally ranked team will receive Certificates of Achievement.
The 2009 TEAMS competition will be held on the NJIT campus on Monday, March 16, 2009. Registration will begin at 8:30 AM in the new Campus Center Second Floor gallery. We expect the competition to be over by 2:00 PM. NJIT will provide breakfast; students will be able to purchase lunch in the cafeteria.
