Theme: “A Toy Story- Energy in Motion on Earth and in Space”
Purpose:
The ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp (EMBHSSC) is organized to provide activities, experiments, projects, and field experiences to enrich rising 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students’ mathematics, science, technology, and communication skills.
Program:
The EMBHSSC is a two-week academic, residential camp that emphasizes increasing students’ mathematics and science skills, introducing them to college life, and stimulating their interest in science and engineering as a potential career path. Each day, campers will attend classes that include problem solving, research, writing and communication skills incorporated with biology, chemistry, physics, environmental, earth science, engineering and design concepts, and field excursions. Certified classroom teachers and university faculty will teach the classes.
Camp Location:
The camp will be held on the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) campus. Housing will be provided in Cypress Hall dormitory on the NJIT campus.
Recruitment Area:
Camp participants will be selected from areas within commuting distance of the NJIT campus.

The Student Application Form, records and recommendations are due by the deadline date, Friday, April 10, 2009.
