This federally subsidized program offers eligible students the option of working in community-based non-profit agencies, public schools, or governmental agencies to earn a work-study award. The Community Service Work Study and America Learns programs provide students the opportunity to earn part of the funds needed to cover educational cost and offers organizations an economical way to meet short-term staffing needs.

What Students Are Doing
Assisting Goodwill Rescue Mission in their kitchen, office, and thrift shop.
Working with Future City, Inc. on environmental initiatives.
Developing websites for non-profits
Serving as academic and technology tutors in local schools, after-school programs, and community centers in Newark and the surrounding areas.
Assisting with agencies marketing and social media needs

Students receive paid work experience, and the agency gets dependable and talented help at a subsidized rate.

Students who receive Federal Work Study can apply for this position using the NJIT Cornerstone Student Employment System.
