JumpAhead in Chemistry

Chemistry is the bedrock of so much in science and engineering that a solid understanding of the principles of chemistry is essential to success in STEM.

JumpAhead in Chemistry uses a thematic curriculum organized around understanding and solving a real-world problem to teach the fundamentals of chemistry essential to success in college courses. This 4-week, non-credit, summer course includes 16 daily sessions on the NJIT Newark campus with lunch in our cafeteria-of-many-choices, daily recreation, and field research relevant to the topics studied.

Taught by a dedicated NJIT Chemistry professor, the course is based on the K-12 Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the NJIT freshmen chemistry course syllabus. It emphasizes hands-on, lab and real-world experiences.

Open to rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who are preparing to take high school chemistry or want to solidify their understanding before taking college chemistry.
