New Jersey Forensic Science Education Conference
NJIT has the only forensic science degree program in New Jersey accredited by the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC) of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. The partnership between our Center for Pre- College Programs and the NJIT Jordan Hu College of Science and Liberal Arts uniquely positions us to support forensic science education at the pre-college level, including teachers’ professional development. Over the past 4 years we have developed particularly strong relationships with an outstanding group of high school science teachers who have become exemplary forensic science teachers.
The 5th Annual New Jersey Forensic Science Education Conference to be held at NJIT will be June 30th, July 1st and 2nd this year. NJFSEC is designed to increase middle and high school teachers’ and administrators’ knowledge of the forensic sciences and to assist them as they develop challenging, innovative curricula for forensic science courses.
Each year we develop a new NJFSEC program led by university professors and practitioners. It emphasizes hands-on, classroom-ready labs in Forensic Biology, Chemistry and Crime Scene Investigation, utilizing our custom-built Forensics and Crime Scene Laboratories. Each day features a lunchtime speaker expert in an area of forensics. Special sessions led by the aforementioned high school forensic science teachers provide an opportunity to network and develop your own curricula. View links below for highlights of past programs.
June 30th this year will have two sections: a section focused on topics for teachers new to teaching forensic science and a separate section focused on topics that more experienced forensics teachers can add to their curricula. Click the link to register. We hope you will join us!
