The STEMx Residency Program offers a three-week on-campus residential experience for current 10th-11th graders. Students will take courses with NJIT Faculty covering Applied Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Sustainable Engineering. In the evenings, students will dive into college and career readiness sessions.

Student Programs

Introducing the Center for Pre-College Program's Pilot STEMx Residency Program!

The STEMx Residency High School Program is a three-week immersive experience designed for current 10th and 11th grade students interested in advanced STEM learning. Throughout the program, students engage in intensive academic experiences focused on Applied Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Sustainable Engineering and the Environment. Instruction is delivered in partnership with, and in many cases exclusively by, NJIT faculty who are subject-matter experts in their respective fields. 

The STEMx Residency experience includes an on-campus residential component. Students arrive on campus Sundays at 4:00 PM and return home Fridays at 4:00 PM, allowing them to fully engage in the residential experience while spending weekends at home. This immersive model supports deeper academic engagement and includes structured evening enrichment, academic support, and community-building activities. 

Program Dates and Topics:

  • Week 1: Sunday, July 5, 2026 - Friday, July 10, 2026
    Applied Engineering
  • Week 2: Sunday, July 12, 2026 - Friday, July 17, 2026
    Foundations of Artificial Intelligence
  • Week 3: Sunday, July 19, 2026 - Friday, July 24, 2026
    Sustainable Engineering and the Environment

Program Cost: 

  • $70 non-refundable application fee
  • $3,600 tuition (includes meals, housing, and academic materials)

Admission Requirements: 

  • Maintain a B or higher grade point average
  • Provide a personal statement of interest for STEMx Residency
  • Math teacher recommendation letter

Application Stages: 

The 2026 STEMx Residency program application will have two stages for students, detailed below:

  1. Online Application:  Applications due by February 26, 2026.
  2. Interviews: All applicants will be notified on decisions regarding their status. 
    Eligible applicants will be notified by March 2, 2026 if selected for interviews.

Final Acceptance: Decisions will be sent on March 13, 2026.

Refund Policy: 

Application fees are nonrefundable.

Tuition is refundable up to 60 days prior to the start of the program. After this date, tuition is non-refundable. A written request for the refund must be received by 11:59pm on Thursday, May 7th, 2026.
