On-Campus Programs

Residence Life Community Development & Programming

While NJIT resident students are constantly learning in their informal residence hall environments, programming is an organized way of facilitating both personal and community development. NJIT’s Office of Residence Life works to create small and large-scale intentional programs that focus on topics specific to student needs. The programs RAs put on for their residents are based on the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. programming model:

S – Smart Choices
Nutrition, Fitness/Exercise, Alcohol Issues, Prevention, Wellness, and Safety

U – Understanding & Appreciating Diversity
NJIT/Newark Community, Culture, Identity Development, and Social Justice

C – Career Planning & Academic Growth
Study Skills, Academic Resources and Support

C – Check Yourself
Skills Assessment, Organization, and Time Management

E – Embrace the NJIT Sprit
Athletics, Intramurals, Student Organization, and NJIT Events

S – Student Engagement, Leadership & Service
Community Service, Service Learning, Hall Government/Residence Hall Association, Student Leadership

S – Social Connections & Sense of Belonging
Interpersonal Communication, Interaction, Social Responsibly, and Civic Engagement

Large-Scale Events

In addition to more intimate hall programs, NJIT resident students are also invited to attend large-scale events throughout the academic year.  Examples include Welcome Week programming, Highlander Games, and the Renaissance Fair.
