Women's Track and Field Team Earns Academic Honors

The NJIT women's track and field team has been honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as an All-Academic team for the 2011 season.

NJIT placed 29 student-athletes in six sports on the 2009-10 Winter/Spring Great West Conference All-Academic team. Selection to the team requires that student-athletes achieve a minimum cumulative 3.2 grade-point average and also must have participated in at least 50 percent of their respective teams’ contests.

The honorees were: Joe Ju (men’s cross country); Cara Constantino, Iulia Doci, Daisy Gallegos, Kelsey Johnson (women’s cross country); Christi Taylor (women’s soccer); Sabrina Baby, Katrina Hornstein and Erica Schultz (women’s volleyball).

NJIT Students Named 2007 Arthur Ashe Sports ScholarsSix NJIT student-athletes were named 2007 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars in the April 5, 2007 edition of Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. They are: Felicia Amaechi, biomedical engineering major, fencing; Aileen Davila, management major, Third Team, track and field; Robert Herrera, architecture major, Second Team, soccer; Rafael Barrera, Jr., management major, 3rd Team, soccer; Babatunde Busari, mechanical engineering and math double major, 2nd Team, track and field; and Leonardo Paludo, management major, volleyball.Four Highlanders Receive Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Academic HonorsNJIT men's volleyball athletes Rodrigo Correa, Leonardo Paludo, Greg Wagner and Eduardo Welter were named to the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association all-Academic team for 2007. NJIT Senior Earns Second Academic Athlete Award

NJIT senior Elizabeth Mayo has been named a USTCA-NCAA Division II All-Academic Athlete by the United States Cross-Country Coaches Association. Additionally, her NJIT women's cross-country team received that body's All-Academic Team designation.
