NJIT Graduate Students Place 2nd at Juniper Networks Hackathon

A team of NJIT graduate students recently placed second at the Juniper Networks Hackathon on Feb 2. NJIT was the host school. Teams from Rutgers, NYIT, NYU/Poly, and U.Penn participated.

“HYMN to Improve the Longevity of Wireless Sensor Networks,” a paper co-authored by Nirwan Ansari, PhD, professor in NJIT's department of electrical and computer engineering, has been selected for an IEEE GLOBECOM 2010 Best Paper Award to be presented at the 2010 IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM 2010) in Miami, Dec. 6-10, 2010. GLOBECOM 2010 received 4614 paper submissions and a total of 11 papers have been selected to receive the best paper awards.

Nirwan Ansari, of Montville, a professor in the department of electrical and computer engineering at NJIT, has received two notable honors. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has named him a Fellow for his contributions to broadband networks and communications. Ansari also received an award from the IEEE member and geographic activities board.
