C. Stephen Cordes is a managing director and member of the Executive Board of ING Clarion Partners, a leading investment advisory firm specializing in real estate, which is headquartered in New York City. Steve heads the private equity real estate portfolio management group with assets under management of $23 billion and is an investment committee member, chairman of the firm’s operating committee, and is portfolio manager and chairman of the board of directors of a closed-end value-added sector fund created through the 2005 privatization of a public apartment REIT. He holds a master in public administration from Rutgers University (1978) and a bachelor of science in industrial engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology (1972), where he currently serves as the chairman of the Board of Visitors of the Albert Dorman Honors College.

Steve is active in several industry investment management organizations, including the National Multi Housing Council, where he is a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors; the Urban Land Institute; the Pension Real Estate Association; and the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate. He is a mentor in association with The Robert Toigo Foundation, which provides financial support and career and life guidance to outstanding minority MBA students of the top U.S. business schools as they complete their studies and transition into careers in the financial services industry.

Steve resides in Westfield, NJ with Francene, his spouse of 31 years. Their son Bryan, a 2006 psychology graduate of Miami University, is an early intervention program services coordinator at Children’s Specialized Hospital in New Jersey. Their daughter Lauren is a recent political science graduate of Drew University. In the Westfield area, Steve is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Westfield Senior Citizens Housing Corporation, the Board of Trustees of the Westfield United Fund, and the Board of Trustees of Mount Saint Mary Academy where he is also chairman of its finance committee.
