Edward F. Weston Medal: Steven Saperstein '84

Steven SapersteinSteven Saperstein is the chief operating officer of Prudential Fixed Income, a position he has held since 2000. Prudential Fixed Income is a global investment management firm which, as of March 31, 2012, has $332 billion in assets under management, over 180 investment professionals in the U.S., Europe and Asia, and more than 285 institutional clients in 20 countries. As a key member of the management team, Saperstein manages the Operations and Systems, Securities Lending, Finance, and Business Management functions.

Prior to his current assignment, Saperstein was controller of Prudential Individual Insurance and Prudential Real Estate Investors.  He also spent several years in Corporate Tax and other Finance functions at Prudential Financial.

Saperstein joined Prudential Financial in 1984 after receiving a BS in industrial administration from NJIT. He also holds an MBA from Rutgers University.

Saperstein has been an active alumni of NJIT since the 1990s and is currently a vice president of the Alumni Association. He currently serves on the Board of Visitors for the College of Science and Liberal Arts, the Editorial Board for NJIT Magazine, the NJIT NEXT Campaign Committee, Planned Giving Committee, the Alumni Association’s Nominations Committee, and the Communications Committee. Previously he served on the Board of Visitors for the School of Management for nine years, and is a past president of the Alumni Association.

In addition to his volunteer time at NJIT, he serves on the Board of the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum JCC and is active in a facilities improvement project there.
