What is First Year Connections?
First Year Connections (FYC) is a mandatory, interactive orientation program for new NJIT undergraduate students. During the program, you will meet current NJIT students, faculty and staff to help you understand the skills necessary to be successful at the university - both academic and social. You will be given the opportunity to meet with your advisor to understand the expectations of NJIT and receive guidance on academic planning. You will learn about innovative research and programs, understand First Year Students course scheduling, and obtain advising on majors, minors, and fields of study.

For Summer 2013, FYC 1.0 will be held during June 3 - 7, 2013. For late admits, out-of-state, and international students, we offer a session immediately before classes start for the fall semester. Once you have registered for FYC, you will receive an e-mail with your assigned session date. Efforts will be made to accommodate requests for specific dates, but we can not guarantee that your requested session will be available.

How do I register for First Year Connections?
Invitations to FYC will begin to be emailed to deposited students in late April. Only students who have paid their deposits to the Admissions Office (http://tuitiondeposit.njit.edu) and who have taken their course placement tests will be invited to register for First Year Connections.
What if I have not received information regarding FYC in the mail or by email?
Please contact the FYC office by email at FYC@njit.edu or by phone, 973-596-5438.
Can I leave early or arrive late to First Year Connections?
It is the responsibility of the students attending FYC to make arrangements to attend the entire program; excuses such as 'I have work' or 'I have an appointment' will not be accepted and you might have to attend a second session of the FYC program. We will provide attendance notices to all students attending our program at the end of the day; if your high school requires advance notice, you can e-mail our office with your request.
What if I have an issue with my assigned First Year Connections session date?
We understand that summer plans can change. We will work with you to make sure that you can attend one of our summer sessions (please notify us as soon as possible if you cannot attend your assigned session). If you do not attend your assigned session, we will assign you to the next available date. Efforts will be made to accommodate requests for specific dates, but given the volume of students who must attend the FYC program we can not guarantee that your requested session will be available. If you have any additional questions or concerns please contact the FYC office at FYC@njit.edu.
