NJIT Distinguished Professor Emerita Receives SIGCAS Award

Starr Roxanne Hiltz, distinguished professor emerita of information systems, was recently named the winner of the SIGCAS Making a Difference Award for 2012 in recognition of her academic research and teaching on the issues of ubiquitous network computing and online learning and their social impact.  SIGCAS is the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Special Interest Group that addresses the social and ethical consequences of widespread computer usage.  The SIGCAS award is given annually to an individual nationally recognized for work related to the interaction of computers and society.  The recipient is a leader in promoting awareness of ethical and social issues in computing.
