Doctoral Candidate's Paper Makes Finalist at Upcoming Prestigious MedInfo World Congress

Congratulations to doctoral candidate Ankur Agrawal, and his CCS advisors Professor Yehoshua Perl and Assistant Professor Mei Liu.  His paper "Identifying Problematic Concepts in SNOMED CT using a Lexical Approach," has been nominated as one of 11 finalists in the student paper competition at the World Congress on Medical and Health Informatics.  The upcoming event (better known as MedInfo) will be held Aug. 20-23, in Copenhagen.  The paper presents an innovative lexical methodology to identifying inconsistencies in large medical terminologies such as SNOMED CT with ease and efficiency.  Agrawal has served as president of the NJIT Graduate Student Association (2010-2012); received the Outstanding Graduate Class Award (2011) and the even more prestigious Presidential Leadership Award (2012).
