NJIT Co-sponsors UN Resilient Design Conference for World Habitat Day

The Center for Resilient Design at NJIT co-sponsored “Resilient Design for Sustainable Urbanization” at the United Nations last week in celebration of World Habitat Day 2013.  President Joel Bloom gave an overview of resilient design initiatives at NJIT; Urs Gauchat, Dean of the College of Architecture and Design (COAD), moderated a panel on “To Build or Not to Build”; and Thomas Dallessio, a member of the COAD faculty and director of NJIT’s Center for Resilient Design, introduced a panel discussion on how leaders can apply resilient design principles to create more sustainable communities and enhance urban mobility.  The conference included experts from national and local governments, nonprofit groups and institutes as well as academia and industry.  The conference can be viewed via UN Web TV:
