Eighteen Graduate Students Inducted into Sigma Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Lambda Graduate Student National Honor Society

Eighteen graduate students at NJIT were inducted into the Sigma Chapter of the Alpha Epsilon Lambda (AEL) National Honor Society for Graduate and Professional Students on Friday, November 15, 2013. Fadi P. Deek, PhD, provost and senior executive vice president at NJIT, was the guest speaker at the induction ceremony and luncheon.

Alpha Epsilon Lambda was founded in 1990 with the specific objective of recognizing the academic and leadership accomplishments of graduate and professional school students. The criteria for selection into AEL include academic excellence; leadership activities (academic, professional, or community); exemplary character; and completion of at least two-thirds of the credits towards an NJIT master’s or doctoral degree.  

The inductees and their respective hometowns are: Regina Collins, Chatham; Scott Derector, Metuchen; Dario Ivan Gomez, North Brunswick; Xiang Ji, Kearny; Joe Joseph, Pearland, TX; Robert Kalinowski, Elmwood Park; Qian Lei, Harrison; Megan Litwhiler, Jersey City; Gaurav Majumdar, Newark; Jeremy Mullen, Highland Park; Laxmi Nelakanti, Somerset; Ugonna Nwakama, Kearny; Shushil Ramnaress, Woodhaven, NY; Thiago N. Siqueira, Harrison; Lakshit Tripathi, Newark; Heta Upadhyaya, Marlboro; and Zhiyi Wu, Newark.
