Bernadette Longo, associate professor in NJIT's Department of Humanities, has been selected as the 2014 recipient of the IEEE Professional Communication Society Emily K. Schlesinger Award for Outstanding Service to the Professional Communication Society. The award will be presented during an awards reception at the IEEE International Professional Communication Conference (IPCC), held this year from October 13-15 at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
Longo also recently co-wrote a chapter in Solving Problems in Technical Communication, which has won the 2014 Best Original Collection of Essays in Technical or Scientific Communication award from the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). “What Can History Teach Us about Technical Communication?” was co-written with T. Kenny Fountain, Case Western University. The NCTE award will be given March 21 at the Conference on College Composition and Communication annual convention in Indianapolis.
