Doctoral Student Wins Second Place for Presentation at NSBE Technical Research Exhibition Competition

NJIT doctoral student Rayon Williams and Professor Edward Dreizin.

Rayon Williams, a doctoral student in chemical engineering, received second-place honors for his oral presentation at the National Society of Black Engineers 40th Annual Convention Technical Research Exhibition competition in Nashville, Tenn.

Williams' presentation, "Ignition Mechanism in Nanocomposite Thermites," is based on his Ph.D. thesis. He is working under the guidance of Professor Edward Dreizin in the Otto H. York Department of Chemical, Biological, and Pharmaceutical Engineering. Their research is supported by the Army Research Office, which focuses on the development, characterization and modelling of ignition behavior of different nano-thermite powders under various ignition stimuli.
