President Bloom with NRBP transportation leadership honorees.
NJIT President Joel S. Bloom was honored on May 12 by the Newark Regional Business Partnership (NRBP) as a leader in promoting the university’s commitment to research and improvement in transportation.
Each year, during National Transportation Week, NRBP and its Transportation Council honor distinguished leaders in the field. Recognizing outstanding leaders and organizations both familiar to the public through the news media and working behind the scenes emphasizes the vital role that transportation plays in the region’s economic vitality.
NJIT is affiliated with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority and home to the Intelligent Transportation System Resource Center and the National Center for Transportation and Industrial Productivity. NJIT also is a leader in preparing graduates for careers in transportation engineering and operations.
Amtrak Chairman Anthony Coscia was the keynote speaker at the breakfast awards ceremony, held at the Newark Club. Honored along with Bloom were Elise Bremer-Nei, New Jersey Department of Transportation; Fred Gruel, AAA New Jersey Automobile Club (retired); Matt Holt, New Jersey Transportation Planning Authority; Joann Papageorgis, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; and Larry Williams, New Jersey Turnpike Authority.
