Distinguished Professor Emeritus Murray Turoff has been selected as a Sloan-C Fellow.
NJIT Distinguished Professor Emeritus Murray Turoff has been selected as a Sloan-C Fellow for his pioneering and visionary research in computer-mediated communications, learning management systems, and the effectiveness of online learning. He will be recognized in October 2014 at the Sloan-C International Conference on Online Learning in Orlando, Fla.
Turoff has been engaged in the research and development of computer-mediated communication systems since the late 1960s. He was the designer of the Emergency Management Information System And Reference Index (EMISARI), the first group communication-oriented crisis management system. EMISARI was used for the 1971 Wage Price Freeze and assorted federal crisis events until the mid-1980s.
