Newark street meter parking is not controlled by NJIT. If parking on the street please make sure to follow any rules stated on street meters or signage. Newark police may issue parking tickets for violations, and NJIT has no control or influence over them.
Per Newark Parking Authority website (https://newarkparking.org/customer/meterRates/): Meter rates are in effect Monday–Saturday, 9:00am until 6:00pm generally. Depending on the area they may enforce up until 10:00pm. 25 cents = 15 minutes (city wide).
For special events/bus parking:
Street parking on Warren Street, Lock Street, & Dr MLK Blvd is Newark metered parking and requires approval from the Newark Parking Authority to use. This must be submitted by the requesting department directly to the Newark Parking Authority as soon as the event is scheduled and confirmed to allow time for the approval process.
