Subject: Fall Enrollment Planning/Provost Position
As you may know, we have put in place a number of strategies and tactics to grow the enrollment at NJIT, particularly for this fall. The next few months will be important as we work to increase the yield from the applicant pool. Toward that end I have asked Joel Bloom to reassume his position as vice president for academic and student services and dean of Albert Dorman Honors College, effective March 1, to allow him to focus on working with the enrollment management team, with Bill Anderson reassuming the position of associate vice president for enrollment planning, to maximize our enrollment for this fall and complete the Honors College fund raising campaign, which we announced publicly last November.
Priscilla Nelson will be joining us as provost on or about May 1, and so in the interim, from March 1 until Priscilla arrives, I have asked Urs Gauchat to serve as Interim provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.
The short-term organizational changes outlined above will for the next couple of months allow ongoing work and current initiatives of the provost’s office, many of which were begun under Joel’s excellent leadership in that office, to continue uninterrupted and provide an additional focus on student enrollment for the fall.
