Subject: Legislative Task Force on Higher Education and the Economy
Today, New Jersey State Senate President Codey and Assembly Speaker Roberts announced the formation of a “Legislative Task Force on Higher Education and the Economy, to examine a possible merger of New Jersey's research universities into a top-tier school that would encourage public and private investment in New Jersey's technology and research business sectors.” The full text of the announcement may be viewed on the web site of the New Jersey Senate Democrats, http://www.njsendems.com. We have been, and will be, in discussions with elected officials in Trenton concerning the work of this Task Force. At this point, the discussion is just beginning, and so there is little to share beyond what is contained in the Senator Codey’s and Assemblyman Roberts’ announcement, but we will keep you informed as membership on the Task Force is announced and its work begins.
