Subject: Middle States Self-Study Update
You may know that the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), our accrediting body, accredits institutions in the Middle States region that meet fourteen standards (http://www.msche.org/publications/CHX06_Aug08REVMarch09.pdf). The Self-Study and Report should demonstrate how we comply with these fourteen standards.
The Self-Study design, or organization, will be submitted to the MSCHE in spring 2010 for approval. Our proposed design is for the Self-Study to be led by a Steering Committee to which seven Group Committees report. The Group Committees, listed on the Self-Study web site, are organized around groups of standards that relate to one another. The Report will follow the Comprehensive Model (http://www.msche.org/publications/SelfStudy07070925104848.pdf) in which compliance to each standard is addressed. While the Self-Study itself is organized by grouping related standards, the Report will be written in fourteen chapters, each chapter addressing a single standard. Consequently, a Group Committee may be responsible for drafting more than one chapter of the Report. This organization helps to make clear to the evaluation team that reads the report exactly how each standard is met.
Committee leadership has been selected, and Committee membership is currently being solicited. I would encourage you to visit the Self-Study web site often for updates and actively participate in providing input to the Self-Study.
Thanks,
Bob
