As announced last June, a Strategic Plan Steering Committee has been guiding the development of a new draft Strategic Plan (http://www.njit.edu/president/planning/strategicplan-2010-2015/index.php) as described in ViSTa, A Strategic Planning Process for NJIT, Vision-Strategy-Tactics, a planning process framework developed by the Board of Overseers and one that we followed in developing the current Strategic Plan.  The Steering Committee proposed revisions of the current Mission, Vision, Core Values, Value Proposition, Goals, Strategic Priorities, and Strategic Objectives and worked with a number of Task Forces, whose membership can be found on the planning site link listed above, to propose a number of Tactics to be executed to meet the Strategic Objectives.  As noted earlier, the work of revising the Strategic Plan forms, in part, input to efforts to develop a Self-Study Report for a Middle States accreditation visit during 2011-2012. Work on the Self-Study Report has been progressing and can be tracked at http://www.njit.edu/middlestates/.

We have the opportunity to build on the successful Middle States Periodic Review Report of 2007 and successes of the current Strategic Plan, most of the Objectives of which have been met, including:

• completion of the Campus Master Plan, encompassing the NJIT Campus Gateway [Redevelopment] Plan now in the implementation phase;
• successful completion of two special-purpose fundraising campaigns for Albert Dorman Honors College and Athletics;
• increased national prominence of academic and research programs;
• substantial growth in the licensing of intellectual property;
• enrollment growth, including one of the largest freshman classes in history; and
• substantial improvement in graduation rates.

and to align our efforts again around common shared values and objectives for the next five or six years. I want to thank those, the many of you, who participated in the development of the new draft Plan, and I look forward to using the opportunity for us to enhance NJIT even further.
