Friday night I had the opportunity to meet with Governor McGreevey and discuss the work of the Governor's Commission on Health Science, Education, and Training. The Governor appreciates the importance of higher education in the development of the state's economy. We had a good discussion of NJIT's unique position in New Jersey's higher education system and our role in supporting a strong economy with technology as a driver.

We will continue these discussions with the Governor and his staff, members of the Commission, legislators and other leaders in the New Jersey higher education community. The work of the Commission is in progress at this point, and we have had an important opportunity to provide input, and will continue to do so as the Commission begins to frame its recommendations.
