Subject: Governorís Health Commission Steering Committee (Update)
As mentioned in my message earlier this week on the above subject, the University Committees to support the work of the Steering Committee (formed as a result of the recommendation of the Governor's Commission on Health Science, Education, and Training to reconfigure Rutgers, UMDNJ, and NJIT into one system with three campuses) will be formed over the next few weeks. Additionally, Ida Castro and Carl Van Horn, members of the Steering Committee, will head an Executive Advisory Committee, charged with securing input from various stakeholder groups, including community leaders, organized labor leaders, etc. The Executive Advisory Committee is now being formed and groups that will be represented in the membership include students, organized labor leaders, health care associations, and alumni among others. Some of you in positions of leadership of the groups to be represented on the Executive Advisory Committee may be contacted directly by the Governor's Office and asked to serve or provide recommendations as to who might represent your group. In other cases, I may be asked to provide recommendations for members to serve on the Executive Advisory Committee. When that is the case, I'll confer with the appropriate groups and individuals before making a recommendation.
Thanks, and we'll keep you posted as these committees are being formed.
