The New Jersey School of Architecture in the College of Architecture and Design (CoAD) at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) seeks outstanding candidates for a tenured or tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor with an emphasis in architectural design and technology. The appointment will commence in July 2013.
CoAD is seeking candidates with a demonstrable focus in the area of performative architecture. The successful candidate have a proven record of design innovation through either research or practice in one or more of the following areas: climate responsive buildings and environments; next generation construction technologies; 4D building integration methods and practices; advanced material applications; and sustainable systems in architectural and urban design.
Applicants should have an excellent academic and/or professional record, exceptional potential for state-of-the-art research, and should possess an M.Arch. or PhD (or equivalent) in architecture from an accredited program. The selected candidate will demonstrate a commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level; teaching responsibilities will include design studios as well as introductory and advanced courses in their area of expertise. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to pursue a combination of creative work, scholarly work and/or research. Additional responsibilities may include service on College and University committees.
The successful candidate is expected to have a working knowledge and understanding of a wide range of current and emerging digital tools and technologies and the ability and desire to integrate them into their teaching. It is expected that the successful candidate will contribute to and enhance existing research and educational programs in the School of Architecture as well as pursuing opportunities for collaboration with colleagues in related fields, such as Industrial Design and Digital Design in the College of Architecture and Design, and from other disciplines across the University.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
