Talbott Apartments Important Information

• 101 Bleeker Street, Newark, NJ 07102
• Packages/Mail will continue to be received at NJIT at the following address:
  • Residents Full Name, NJIT, Residence Hall, Room #, 323 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Newark, NJ 07102-1824

• Single Rooms - Full size beds (Beds do not raise)
• Double Rooms - Twin XL (clearance under the bed is 12 inches, residents may purchase risers)

Beds cannot be lofted. 

• In the event of an emergency in Talbott Hall, call 911
• State your location as Talbott Hall, 101 Bleeker Street, Newark, NJ 07103
• Rutgers-Newark Police and/or NJIT Police will respond to Talbott Hall

• When the alarm sounds residents will vacate the building via an emergency exit.
• Proceed across Bleeker Street to Samuel's Plaza.
• Staff will communicate with residents when they are able to return to the building.  

Talbott Residents will follow the Guest & Visitation policies outlined on the NJIT Residence Life website with the following updates.  There are a few exceptions

• NJIT students will sign in as a guest with a Talbott resident if visiting Talbott Hall.  
• Two guests may be signed in at one time  
• Guests may stay overnight (with roommate consent) for 2 consecutive nights (6 nights in total in a rolling 30 day period)
• Minors under the age of 16 must have approval from the Residence Coordinator

• $1.75 to wash/dry
• Laundry room is on the first floor
• SpeedQueen App (same as NJIT)

• Visit Rutgers-Newark Maintenance System
• If it is your first time visiting the site, you will need to select, "Never Submitted a SchoolDude Request? Register Here!"
• Fill out all fields on the form to create your account
• Enter all of the fields for your maintenance request
• Step #6 Submittal Password, enter "reslife" & submit your request.

• Move-In on Saturday, August 30 & Sunday, August 31, 2025 from 10am-3pm ONLY
• Drive up Bleeker Street from University Ave. ONLY
• The resident will go into Talbott Hall to check in & family/friends will unload the car
• Once unloaded the student or family/friends will move the car to one of the NJIT parking decks
  • 154 Summit Street, Newark, NJ 07102 (Closest to the Campus Center)
  • 42 Wilsey Street, Newark, NJ 07103 (Closest to the Wellness & Events Center)

Parking for NJIT will remain on campus @ NJIT

Paid street parking is available on Bleeker Street. This parking is managed through the ParkMobile App.

To use this option, follow these steps:

1. Download the App: Get the ParkMobile app on your smartphone.

2. Register Your Vehicle: Enter your car's license plate number, make, model, and the state where it's registered.

3. Find Your Parking Zone: Once you've parked, you can either select your location on the map within the app or enter the specific parking zone number found on the ParkMobile sign on the sidewalk.

4. Pay for Parking: Use a credit card, Apple Pay, or another accepted payment method to pay for your parking session directly through the app.

Please note that if you park on Bleeker Street outside of the move in dates you MUST pay for parking.  If you do not you are subject to parking fines.  

• No pets are allowed

NJIT residents will continue to follow all NJIT & Residence Life policies, along with listed prohibited items.  

Talbott Apartments does not allow for an additional microwaves or refrigerators in student rooms or apartments.   Each apartment will have a microwave and refrigerators for residents to use.  

Weekdays - 10pm-8am

Weekends - 12am-10am

• The overhead lighting in Talbott Hall is minimal.  Residents should bring additional floor and desk lamps
• What to Bring

Students with a NetID, please follow the instructions on configuring your device for RUWireless Secure.

How to Set Up RUWireless Secure

• Connect to RUWireless: Select the wireless network named RUWireless from your device's available networks.
• Open a Browser: A login page should appear. If not, manually navigate to wifi.rutgers.edu
• ​Log In: Click "I have a NetID and password" and follow the on-screen instructions.
• Automatic Configuration: Once setup is complete, your device will automatically connect to RUWireless Secure whenever you're in range.

If you wish to use the secure guest network, RUWireless, please follow the instructions below.

To connect to RUWireless, go to the WiFi settings on your device and select the RUWireless network.

Once you have associated to RUWireless you will be automatically redirected to the RUWireless login web page. If you are not, open a browser and go to wifi.rutgers.edu.

Select I want guest Internet access.

Read the Terms of Service Agreement, scroll to the bottom of the page, and select I Accept.

Once successfully authenticated to RUWireless, you will be forwarded to the RUWireless home page.
