Placement Testing
The Center For First Year Students offers placement testing for all incoming freshmen, and for new transfer students who have not yet completed certain General Undergraduate Requirements.

During your first year of study, one of the most important steps is making sure that you are enrolled in courses that are academically appropriate for your level of preparation.

NJIT utilizes a computer based test for Humanities/ English and for Mathematics.  All incoming first year students must take these two placement tests.  A Chemistry Test and/or Computer Science Test is also a required for students in certain majors. See the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) web page for information about the tests required for individual majors.

If you have been admitted to NJIT make sure you REGISTER for Placement Testing online.

Please Note: These tests are a critical component in determining your initial course placement.  If you require accommodations for a disability during the placement exams, it is essential that you contact Dr. Phyllis Bolling at (973) 596-3414 to submit appropriate documentation of your disability and make arrangements for testing.

You can also view Sample Questions & Practice Problems to help you review for your test.
