The Louis Berger International Scholar Award was established in 1997 through an endowment by the Berger family. The award is valued at over $21,000 for the 2008-2009 academic year, providing support for a Master’s student for a stipend, tuition and fees. If the recipient is a doctoral student, supplemental support may be made available. Doctoral awards will only be considered for students holding a prior Master’s degree.
The award is intended for students pursuing graduate education in fields consistent with the worldwide activities of the Louis Berger Group (www.louisberger.com). These fields cover most majors offered by New Jersey Institute of Technology but students in Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Transportation, and Management will generally have preference. The award recipient must be willing to accept an internship with the Berger Group and to return to the home country upon completion of study.
