Sex Crimes

The Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act requires institutions of higher education to advise their campus communities where to obtain information concerning registered sex offenders.  For information concerning sex offenders in the state of New Jersey, please go to the New Jersey Sex Offender Registry, maintained by the New Jersey State Police.
Crime Statistics
Congress enacted the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act in 1990 to provide students and their families with accurate, complete and timely information about campus safety.  The law requires colleges and universities to adhere to three basic tenets:
  1. Policy Disclosure
  2. Records Collection and Retention
  3. Information Dissemination

The chart below includes offences that were reported to the NJIT Department of Public Safety, law enforcement agencies other than the NJIT Department of Public Safety, and to any official of NJIT who has significant responsibilities for student and campus activities. Those offences are compiled in accordance with the provisions of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.
