Know more about program types!
Sometimes the best place to start is to know what you're working with, and we have a few program types that work for all sorts of needs.
Primarily, program types focus on your finances (i.e. how you pay tuition, housing, and meals), so let's start here:
NJIT Exchange Partners and Global E3
Tuition Swap, Housing and Meals paid to partner school
These two are great for commuting students, or students who want to pay NJIT tuition, and have most or all financial aid and scholarships apply to their tuition. With the tuition-swap feature, studying abroad NJIT Exchange Partners and Global E3 will look mostly the same as your regular NJIT tuition bill.
The difference here, is that you pay housing and meals to the institution abroad (more often than not, they tend to be cheaper abroad, so check the program pages for estimated costs).
Only tuition is payable to NJIT, which means you will need to pay housing and for meals when you are abroad. Sometimes, housing or meal plan scholarships can apply to the institution abroad, but it isn't a guarantee.
We recommend applying for Scholarships if you think you need help paying housing and meal plans abroad.
ISEP
Tuition Swap, Housing and Meals are paid to NJIT
ISEP has the same tuition-swap feature as the Partners and Global E3, and in addition, students are charged NJIT housing and meal plan rates. If you already live on campus, and/or paying the NJIT housing and meal plan rates are within your budget, then this can work well for you.
Study Abroad Providers & Independent Study Abroad
Tuition, housing, meals, etc. to provider or on own
These programs are great for students who want short-term programs, a wider variety of locations, and/or have budgeted for these programs. Students will typically pay out of pocket for these programs, sometimes having financial aid apply.

In a Social Psychological and Personality Science study, students with study abroad experience had developed the "multicultural engagement" skill, which predicted the number of job offers a student received.
You can:
- Create a global network: make friends from all over the world
- Earn credits while living a life-changing experience
- Gain valuable soft skills: self-reliance, open-mindedness, and problem-solving
NJIT offers multiple programs year round (summer or winter terms, one semester or a full academic year). Many universities offer courses taught in English so language proficiency is not required.
