Saturday Morning STEM (SMS)

On campus every Saturday, January 10 - February 7, 2026 from 9 am to 12 pm.

5th and 6th Grade Aeronautical Engineering is designed to introduce students to aeronautical engineering. Offering hands-on activities such as building a rocket, creating a hot air balloon, designing an airplane, making propellers, and many more fun projects. These experiences motivate learning, raise students’ expectations of success, and nurture long-term interest in math, science, technology, and engineering. The Aeronautical Engineering program prompts students to pursue studies in those areas; and foster a process of critical thinking where students begin to envision themselves as competent decision makers.

7th and 8th Grade Forensics Uncovered introduces middle school scholars to the science behind solving mysteries. Through hands-on activities and engaging experiments, students will learn how forensic investigators analyze evidence and uncover the truth. Step into the world of real-life crime scene investigation! Participants will explore fingerprinting, blood spatter patterns, tool mark impressions, DNA analysis, handwriting and document analysis, and the fundamentals of processing a crime scene. Along the way, they’ll build critical thinking skills, practice scientific techniques, and experience what it’s like to work as a forensic scientist. Perfect for curious learners who love science, puzzles, and problem-solving, this course offers an exciting look at the techniques used by professionals in the field of forensic science.

5th and 6th Grade Robo Rangers is an engaging and hands-on program designed to introduce 5th and 6th-grade students to the exciting world of robotics using the VEX IQ platform. Through collaborative challenges, students will explore the fundamentals of robotics, engineering, and problem-solving while building and programming their own robots. The program fosters creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork, helping students develop skills essential for future STEM opportunities.

5th and 6th Grade Engineering Explorers is a rotational program introducing students to various engineering thematics. Students will participate in group projects and hands-on activities and learn about different real world applications in each class. Topics will include: Chemical and Materials, Energy and Sustainability, Electrical, Biomedical,  and Mechanical Engineering.

7th and 8th Grade Engineering Innovators is an advanced rotational program that builds on foundational STEM skills while challenging students to think critically and problem-solve like real engineers. Through collaborative projects and hands-on exploration, students will dive deeper into engineering fields such as Chemical and Materials, Energy and Sustainability, Electrical, Biomedical, and Mechanical Engineering. Each class emphasizes real-world applications and innovation, encouraging students to design creative solutions to today’s challenges.

7th and 8th Grade CodeQuest is an exciting computer science program designed for students to explore both the technical foundations and real-world applications of coding and technology. The first half of the program will focus on essential computer science concepts, including programming fundamentals, algorithms, and problem-solving techniques. In the second half, students will put their skills to the test by practicing their new programming skills in real-world applications. Through hands-on activities, team-based projects, and creative problem-solving, students will gain both technical knowledge and practical experience, preparing them for future studies and careers in the digital world.

High School Robotics is a dynamic 5-day program designed for high school students, immersing them in the transformative fields of assistive robotics and brain-computer interface (BCI) technology using NeuroMaker. Participants begin by diving into the principles of assistive technology, followed by hands-on workshops in building a robotic hand and exploring BCI headbands. Through collaborative projects, students integrate the robotic hand and the BCI headbands, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills. The program culminates in final project presentations, highlighting the social impact of assistive technology. By combining theoretical understanding with practical application, students leave with a deep appreciation for the potential of assistive robotics and BCIs in enhancing accessibility and communication for individuals with diverse needs.

This program will provide students with a solid foundation in Python coding, from basic syntax and data structures to more advanced topics like object-oriented programming and real-world application development.
