Community Engagement

NJIT is dedicated to providing impactful community service. Whether you are a student, staff, or faculty member, you can find the service opportunities that match your values and skillset at NJIT. Caring for our planet and each other is at the core of sustainability; the Office of Sustainability encourages you to volunteer and make a difference. 

Ways to Volunteer at NJIT, Newark, and the Broader New Jersey Community

  1. Join a student organization dedicated to service, such as NJIT Green, NRHH, Knit n Crochet, or AAEES. To view other service and sustainability organizations, click here.
  2. Remove invasive species and clean up parks with the Branch Brook Park Alliance and Greater Newark Conservancy.
  3. Support urban farming and educate youth with Newark Science and Sustainability.
  4. Amplify voices and educate communities about pollution and environmental justice with the Ironbound Community Corporation.
  5. Create social media content, design infographics, and attend community meetings with the Climate Revolution Action Network.
